Job summary
Motorola Solutions UK Limited is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to create and develop distributed spectral monitoring systems using modern C++17 and Rust in user space on Linux. You will own complex project streams, drive the full software lifecycle, mentor junior engineers, and improve development processes, with a hybrid schedule requiring three days per week at Cambourne offices.
Qualifications
University degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related engineering field (or equivalent practical experience).
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering.
Proven hands-on experience with Rust in a Linux or embedded context.
Strong modern C++17 programming skills in a Linux environment.
Responsibilities
Own and drive key phases of the full software development lifecycle (requirements analysis, architecture design, development, testing, and deployment).
Work independently under limited supervision to deliver complex software projects on schedule.
Coach, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level software engineers.
Identify and implement process, tool, and system improvements to enhance overall performance and code quality across the team.
Lead testing efforts, including test automation for unit, regression, and performance frameworks.
Review code written by colleagues and AI, championing quality standards and best development practices across the team.
Communicate effectively with internal cross-functional teams and external partners/vendors when needed.
