Overview

Senior Software Engineer position with the Electronic Controllers team at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies in Yeovil. This hybrid role (3 days in‑office, 2 days remote) requires occasional travel to customer sites in the UK and Europe.

About the Yeovil Site

The Yeovil site is a design, development and manufacturing facility specializing in Environmental Control Systems and Life Support Systems. It offers world‑class development and qualification testing facilities and has produced numerous innovations in these product areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage software development and verification activities in compliance with RTCA DO 178B/C.
• Review system and software requirements, ensuring clear traceability across all project work‑products.
• Design, implement, and integrate software architecture, ensuring comprehensive verification and adequate test coverage.
• Generate and approve the Plan for Software Aspects of Certification, addressing certification‑related issues and creating the Software Accomplishment Summary.
• Identify training, tool, and resource needs for projects, while reviewing and approving deliverables from project team members.
• Participate in process and tool standardization initiatives to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Degree (BSc) or equivalent in software development, maths or electronics.
• Significant experience developing and verifying software for embedded aerospace applications across all life‑cycle phases.
• Thorough understanding of C programming and DO 178C.
• Ability to read circuit diagrams or schematics and use electronics development and test tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, etc.) beneficial.
• Experience with DOORS, ChangeMan Dimensions, ClearCase/ClearQuest, System Architect and/or Rhapsody, VectorCAST, QA C and/or LDRA Test Bed beneficial.
