Job summary

SPT Labtech in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to support prototyping, test and debug within our R&D group. This hands-on, on-site role involves building and reworking prototypes, wiring harness fabrication, and working closely with electronics, software and mechanical engineers to drive designs from schematic to working instrument.

You will mentor junior technicians, maintain lab equipment, and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and safety

Qualifications

• Hands-on electronics experience in R&D or product development.
• Ability to read schematics and chase faults to root cause.
• Prototyping, wiring harness fabrication and assembly discipline.

Responsibilities

• Build, rework and repair prototype systems and evaluation builds to high workmanship standards.
• Use test equipment to verify designs, diagnose faults and support root-cause investigations.
• Support embedded systems bring-up, integration and test with software and design engineers.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and test records.
• Provide feedback to design engineers on testability and manufacturability.
• Coach junior technicians and apprentices in build and test work.
• Maintain and calibrate lab test equipment for ongoing testing and evaluation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tooling and safety practices.
