Qualifications

Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking experienced skilled Electronics Engineers to work with our client, hybrid attendance in Glasgow. In this role the successful candidate will apply their skills and experience to developing state-of-the-art solutions for some of the most technically advanced electro-optical defence and security platforms in the world.

The role covers all aspects of the product lifecycle, from requirements through specification, concept studies, design and development, integration, validation and qualification. This is an opportunity for an experienced electronics engineer to build on their existing technical skills, widen their systems understanding and develop their career.

We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with defence or aerospace electronics experience.

Responsibilities
  • The Senior Electronics Engineer will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of electronics associated with electro optical systems:
    • Undertake design of complex electronic circuit assemblies or architectures, from concept through to system integration & qualification
    • Lead discussions with a multi-disciplinary team (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc) to develop an optimum solution
    • Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure products meet all their requirements and comply with regulatory safety and environmental standards
    • Contribute to the development of the wider electronics team, including mentoring junior members of staff, overseeing the implementation of improvements and reviewing the work of peers
    • Generate electronics specifications, architectures, and development or verification plans
    • Support the bid process through generation of estimates and consultancy on electronic solutions
    • Present robust engineering solutions at design reviews
    • Monitor progress of work against cost, schedule and performance
Qualifications
  • Degree level qualification in Electronics Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable relevant experience in lieu
Essential skills
  • Proficient in the use of schematic capture packages (Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar)
  • Proficient in the generation of sub‑system requirements/procurement specs
  • General understanding of engineering process and design lifecycles applicable for the development of high reliability military electronics
Experience
  • Strong demonstrated experience of electronic design throughout the design lifecycle
  • Development of electronic products in a formal environment
  • Experience testing at circuit board and system level (e.g. board bring‑up and debug, EMC testing)
