EVera Recruitment is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to take ownership of electronic hardware development, from initial requirements and circuit design through to prototype testing and verification.
Working within a small multidisciplinary team, you will contribute directly to product development and solve practical engineering challenges. This is a hand-on technical position suited to someone who enjoys designing circuits, working with hardware and understanding how their designs perform in the laboratory.
The role
- Developing analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuits for battery monitoring, measurement, control and protection.
- Designing hardware incorporating microcontrollers, sensors, power supplies and balancing circuits.
- Selecting components and evaluating design trade-offs, considering performance, reliability, availability and cost.
- Producing electronic schematics and providing guidance on PCB layout, including reviewing designs for signal integrity, EMC and manufacturability.
- Building, commissioning and debugging prototype hardware using laboratory test equipment.
- Performing circuit simulation and design analysis to verify performance against requirements.
- Contributing to requirements definition, verification plans, FMEA and technical documentation.
- Supporting hardware development through the V-cycle, working closely with software, systems and mechanical engineers.
- Working with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues and support product delivery.
About you
- Experience personally designing and developing electronic circuits through to working hardware.
- Strong knowledge of analogue and digital electronics, including sensing, signal conditioning, filtering, ADC/DAC interfaces and power supplies.
- Experience with microcontroller-based hardware and communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI and I²C.
- Experience in schematic capture and PCB design or layout review using an electronic design tool.
- Practical skills in board bring-up, fault finding, soldering and PCB rework.
- The ability to explain component choices, circuit calculations and engineering trade-offs clearly.
- Experience working from technical requirements and documenting design and test results.
- A degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience that would be particularly valuable
- BMS hardware, cell monitoring, current measurement, balancing and battery protection.
- High-voltage measurement, isolation and inrush-current management.
- FMEA, worst-case analysis and hardware functional safety.
- Electronics development within automotive, aerospace, defence, power electronics or instrumentation.
Direct BMS experience would be an advantage. Candidates with strong circuit-level design expertise from other relevant applications are also encouraged to apply.
Why apply?
- Take ownership of hardware designs within a small engineering team.
- Work across the full development lifecycle.
- Apply your electronics expertise to technically demanding battery applications.
- Remain closely involved in practical design, prototyping and testing.
