My name is Tristan, I am a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Leeds Energy Water & Resource MEICA team. I joined Arup 5 years ago as part of the Graduate programme; since then I have experienced a wide variety of multidisciplinary projects centred on sustainability, ranging from designs for Clean Air Zones to electric vehicle strategy and scoping hydrogen gas network transition to detailing electrical infrastructure for a nuclear facility. In Arup we pride ourselves on delivering projects that are focused on decarbonisation and are fulfilling for colleagues as well as society. Needless to say, the networks and opportunities are endless within Arup, which allows colleagues to progress their careers in a direction they choose.
During my time at Arup I have had a great opportunity to collaborate on very interesting projects and worked with experts across the company, leading to delivering exciting work for our clients and learning a host of new skills along the way. Some of my highlights include travelling to Lisbon to present a paper on EV infrastructure modelling and travelling to Toronto to complete a site survey and design for one of Arup's innovative Automated Tunnel Inspection projects.
We have an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineer looking for interesting technical work. You will work in the UK Water Sector AMP8 framework and on the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance, a true alliance‑style contract to undertake the important task of cleaning up and decommissioning Europe's most complex nuclear site.
As a Senior CE&I Engineer you will be a key part of the CE&I team management, managing multi‑disciplinary projects while providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers. You will direct work in a dynamic and stimulating environment, supervising and training junior engineers. You will guide infrastructure projects of various sizes, taking on project leadership and client‑facing activity. You will be involved in feasibility, preliminary design, detailed design and site‑stage activities of major and minor projects (new and refurbishment). You will also establish strong links with our clients and external contacts and contribute to resource planning of the teams.
This role requires excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, acting as a technical ambassador for Arup, working closely with our Alliance partners & clients, the engineering and construction communities.
We are looking for candidates who can show successful delivery within an electrical and/or control & instrumentation engineering role/environment including:
Experience working in a wide variety of sectors, infrastructure & nuclear would be advantageous along with the following desirable skills: excellent knowledge of BS 7671 and related documents; very good knowledge of CDM regulations; DSEAR/ATEX regulations; AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble & other digital design packages knowledge & skills; ability to think outside the specialism and integrate multi‑disciplinary requirements into holistic coordinated solutions with a focus on constructability & working with contractors. Successful candidate will need an eligible UK driving licence and holding or being eligible to gain security clearance is advantageous.
