Job description

As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to discipline engineers in your area. You will support the design process for schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and comply with current legislation and standards. You will review electrical design deliverables produced by other engineers within the @one Alliance and supply chain to ensure adherence to processes and procedures. Additionally, you will coach and mentor junior and less experienced electrical team members.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers to manage quality, time, and cost during electrical design reviews.
  2. Ensure all electrical deliverables, including LV installations and instrumentation specifications, meet standards and project specifications.
  3. Review and verify electrical designs, schematics, cable calculations, and contractor submissions for accuracy and compliance.
  4. Respond promptly to construction site design queries and manage change requests.
  5. Support resource forecasting, recruitment, and performance management of senior electrical engineers.
  6. Lead health and safety compliance, including CDM participation, ensuring designs meet electrical standards and regulations.
  7. Mentor and develop junior staff, including graduates and apprentices, fostering continuous improvement.
  8. Promote innovation by adopting new digital technologies, embedding standard procedures, and supporting sustainable, low-carbon design practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience; Chartered or working towards Chartered status preferred.
  • Experience with water-sector assets and capital projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Experience in a Design & Build environment is advantageous but not essential.
