Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a 6‑month contract in the United Kingdom. The role offers remote work with occasional site visits and pays £60 per hour outside IR35.

You will provide electrical engineering support across BESS and grid connection projects, review contractor designs, and assist FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning throughout the project lifecycle.

Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer

£60 per hour - Outside IR35

Remote with occasional site visits

6 month initial contract

Key responsibilities:

• Provide electrical engineering support across BESS and grid connection projects
• Review contractor and consultant electrical designs
• Support projects through FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases
• Review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Protection studies, Earthing designs, HV equipment specifications
• Support grid connection activities with DNOs, National Grid, ICPs and OEMs
• Review load flow, fault level and protection coordination studies
• Provide technical assurance throughout project delivery
• Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations
• Assist with commissioning, energisation and handover activities
• Ensure compliance with UK Grid Code, G99 and relevant IEC/BS standards

Essential requirements:

• Degree qualified Electrical Engineer / Power Systems Engineer
• Strong HV electrical engineering background
• Experience within BESS, renewable energy, power generation or HV infrastructure projects
• Experience with HV systems (11kV-132kV), substations, transformers, switchgear and protection systems
• Experience reviewing electrical designs and contractor documentation
• Knowledge of UK grid connections and G99 requirements
• Experience working with DNOs, National Grid or ICPs

Desirable:

• BESS project experience
• Experience providing technical assurance or design review on behalf of an asset owner/developer
• Experience reviewing EPC contractor designs and managing electrical engineering interfaces
• Experience with power system modelling software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSCAD
• SCADA/substation automation knowledge
• Commissioning and energisation experience
• CEng or working towards chartership
