Overview

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Consulting Engineer to join their UK Power team. The role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally, supporting the transition to sustainable, secure, and reliable energy systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support electrical engineering projects across distribution and transmission networks.
  • Develop and review technical specifications, concept studies, and FEED deliverables.
  • Act as Owner’s Engineer and provide technical advisory and due diligence support.
  • Undertake substation design, cable system design, and equipment specification.
  • Support tendering, bids, and proposals with technical input.
  • Participate in site activities, including FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team development.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc minimum; MEng/MSc preferred).
  • Strong understanding of the UK electricity system and relevant regulations.
  • Experience with design, specification, construction, operation, or maintenance of distribution and transmission networks.
  • Knowledge of key electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, harmonic filters, and reactive compensation equipment.
  • Experience with power system protection, control, and power cables is desirable.
  • Project delivery experience, either leading or coordinating engineering tasks.
  • Consulting experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership preferred.
