Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company Limited within aviation fuel infrastructure. The role is hybrid, combining on-site maintenance at Heathrow with remote coordination and safety leadership across UK assets.

You will lead Electrical Maintenance Procedures and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with ATEX, DSEAR, and aviation fuel handling standards, while driving safety and process improvements with site teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent HND/Apprenticeship route with significant industry experience).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant institution (IET or similar), or demonstrable progression towards gaining these titles.
• CompEx / ATEX certification highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with site teams to author, standardise, and roll out Electrical Maintenance Procedures, Risk Assessments, and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules across site assets.
• Conduct gap analyses on existing electrical systems and operational workflows, implementing structured action plans to rectify non-conformance's.
• Ensure all maintenance practices conform to strict UK safety legislation, ATEX, DSEAR, and aviation-specific fuel handling guidelines.
• Drive electrical safety management, taking a proactive approach to risk identification and reduction in high-hazard areas.

About the Opportunity

Heathrow Hydrant Operating Company Limited (HHOPCo) plays a critical role in keeping London Heathrow Airport moving, managing, and maintaining the vital high-pressure aviation fuel distribution infrastructure and underground pipeline network across the airport site.

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support HHOPCo's core electrical maintenance operations. You will play a leading role in elevating site safety, refining electrical maintenance processes, and ensuring compliance across complex, high-hazard fuel distribution environments.

Qualifications:

Technical & Industry Knowledge:

• 5+ Years Experience: Proven track record as an Electrical Engineer in aviation fuel storage, chemical distribution, process engineering, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Aviation Standards: Direct working knowledge of JIG 2 (Joint Inspection Group) standards and Energy Institute (EI) guidelines (e.g., EI 1540) for aviation fuel handling.
• Hazardous Areas & Safety: Specialist knowledge of DSEAR, ATEX, and Hazardous Area Classification requirements for fuel depots and hydrant systems.
• Earthing & Protection: Deep understanding of static elimination, bonding, earthing electrode resistance, and Cathodic Protection systems.
• Standards & Compliance: Experience with BS 7671 regulations and equipment compliance directives (CE marking, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, EMC).
