Job summary

EDF power solutions is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead technical delivery across solar PV, battery storage, and private wire projects in the UK and Ireland.

You’ll shape engineering standards, review outputs, and mentor multidisciplinary teams through development, design, construction, commissioning and handover, with a hybrid pattern and occasional site visits.

Travel to project sites and other locations will be required to support delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering infrastructure or energy projects across lifecycle stages (development, design, construction, commissioning).
• Knowledge of UK standards, regulations and grid requirements for renewable energy.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and interface with civil, mechanical, control and commercial disciplines.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll provide technical leadership across a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects. From development and design through to construction, commissioning and handover, you’ll help make sure projects are safe, compliant, commercially viable and built for long‑term success.

The Opportunity

As Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role within our Solar, Storage and Private Wire Engineering Team. You’ll support a diverse portfolio of solar PV, battery storage and private wire projects, providing technical expertise that helps deliver engineering excellence across every stage of project development and delivery.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this is a hybrid role with a mix of home working and time in our #London, #Edinburgh or #Durham offices one or two days per month. You’ll also travel to project sites and other locations as needed to support delivery and collaboration.

You’ll have the opportunity to influence major renewable energy investments, review and assure engineering solutions, support the development of engineering standards, and work alongside multidisciplinary teams that are helping accelerate the UK and Ireland’s transition to low‑carbon energy.

We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is collaborative, pragmatic and motivated by delivering high‑quality renewable energy projects. You’ll be comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams, providing technical guidance and supporting effective decision‑making. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Demonstrable experience delivering infrastructure or energy projects across multiple lifecycle stages including development, design, construction and commissioning
• Strong grounding in electrical engineering systems design, ideally relevant to renewable energy, such as high voltage, protection and control, power electronics, SCADA or balance of plant.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and understanding engineering interfaces across civil, mechanical, control and commercial disciplines
• Knowledge of UK standards, regulations and grid requirements relevant to renewable energy projects
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing electrical engineering support across a portfolio of solar PV, battery storage,private wire and onshore/offshore windprojects
• Supporting projects through development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
• Reviewing and assuring engineering outputs from consultants, contractors and OEMs
• Supporting optioneering and feasibility assessments to identify practical and commercially viable solutions
• Contributing to engineering standards, technical specifications and employer requirements
• Supporting procurement activities through technical assessment of tender submissions
• Identifying and helping manage engineering risks in line with project and business requirements
• Providing technical guidance to engineers and project teams
• Promoting continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across projects
• Representing EDF power solutions in technical discussions with external stakeholders as required
