Job summary

Samuel Frank is recruiting a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing, family-owned engineering business based in Northamptonshire. The role is initially heavily design-focused with 85-90% time on electrical design and a clear pathway into engineering leadership as the department grows.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
• Strong electrical controls design experience.
• Experience designing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts.
• Background in industrial automation or related environment.
• SolidWorks Electrical advantageous but not essential.
• Experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
• Mentoring or supervisory experience useful.
• Understanding movement from design to manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Predominantly hands-on electrical design (85-90%).
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to translate designs to shop floor.
• Produce engineering drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Work with Purchasing, Manufacturing, R&D, COO and CEO.
• Help introduce and improve engineering processes and standards.
• Longer-term responsibility for building and developing an engineering team.
• Possibility to progress to Lead Engineer/Engineering Manager.
