Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Portsmouth, with occasional travel to client sites across the UK.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.

We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a growing team delivering complex and high-profile design projects across sectors such as Defence, Building Infrastructure and Commercial. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong design experience who enjoys leading technical projects from concept through to completion. You’ll play a key part in developing safe, efficient, and sustainable electrical systems that meet both client and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and deliver electrical design projects from initial concept to final handover.
• Produce and review schematics, calculations, and layouts using modern design tools.
• Ensure all work meets UK standards and regulations (BS7671, Building Regs, MOD JSPs, etc.).
• Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery.
• Carry out site visits, surveys, and risk assessments.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Support tender and bid submissions with technical input.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover stages.

About You

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Ideally Chartered or working towards professional registration (IET).
• Around 5+ years’ experience in electrical design across multiple sectors.
• Confident using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux.
• Strong communicator with great stakeholder management skills.
• Able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
