Job summary

Stantec in Plymouth is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer for MEP building services. You will lead multidisciplinary projects, coordinate with clients and architects, and oversee resources, programme and budget to deliver high‑quality outputs.

You will mentor junior engineers, support chartership routes, and contribute to innovation and process improvements within a collaborative team. A relevant Building Services background across multiple sectors is expected.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelor's, or Master's).
• Experience in Building Services design.
• Experience across healthcare, education, commercial, residential and/or industrial sectors.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and Revit.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary MEP projects from initiation to completion.
• Engage with clients and manage deliverables, resources, schedule and budget.
• Mentor junior engineers and support chartership routes.
• Collaborate with architects and other design teams.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing MEP (Building Services) team in the Southwest. The role involves leading multidisciplinary engineering projects from start to finish, engaging with clients, and overseeing project deliverables, resourcing, programme, and budget to deliver high‑quality outputs.

Additional Responsibilities

• Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer in the UK, ideally delivering both electrical and M&E solutions across varied building sectors.
• Developing and mentoring junior engineers, including supporting chartership routes.
• Contributing to innovation, process improvement, and technical excellence initiatives.
• Assisting with aspects of team management, supporting our MEP lead in activities such as resource planning, line management, and quality assurance.
• A collaborative mindset and experience working closely with architects and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelor's, or Master's).
• A proven background in Building Services design.
• A track record working across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, residential and/or industrial.
• Familiarity with BIM processes and tools, including Revit.
