Responsibilities
- Translate high‑level electrical requirements into validated system/component designs.
- Design and implement electrical solutions that meet project needs, ensuring testability and compliance.
- Collaborate with verification teams to define and carry out testing activities.
- Use modelling and simulation to confirm functional performance and compliance with requirements.
- Represent electrical engineering in project teams, technical reviews, and with external stakeholders (including regulators and customers).
- Work across multidisciplinary teams to drive standardisation and best practice.
- Identify and mitigate risks while supporting long‑term planning and strategy.
Qualifications
- Minimum level of experience, training, and qualification; 75% of requirements suffices.
- Strong background in electrical engineering and proven ability to work through the full design lifecycle – specification, installation, commissioning and maintenance of safety‑critical electrical systems.
- Experience in electrical power distribution systems and components, with knowledge of common electrical design codes and standards.
- Track record of developing design solutions from concept to detailed design, using robust processes and trade‑off studies to deliver optimum outcomes.
- Familiarity with systems engineering methodologies, ideally including Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) applied to control and instrumentation (C&I) systems.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to apply appropriate methods to justify and underpin design solutions.
- Excellent communication skills – able to take complex information and present it clearly to colleagues, stakeholders and regulators.
- Previous experience within the nuclear industry desirable; a record of working across the electrical system lifecycle in a regulated industry (Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Automotive, Oil & Gas, etc.) would be a benefit.
Pay and Benefits
- Salary: £48,000 – £62,500 (DOE) plus performance‑related bonus up to 12.5%
- Benefits allowance: £2,200 per annum for bespoke package.
- Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holiday: 28 days (+ public holidays); buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private medical insurance: BUPA single cover healthcare.
- Life assurance: 6× pensionable pay.
- One‑off payment: £250 for home office purchases.
