Senior Ecologist

We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join a growing environmental consultancy with projects spanning a wide range of sectors. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that balances development with environmental protection. You will play a key role in delivering ecological surveys, assessments and advice, while also mentoring junior colleagues and helping to shape the future direction of the team. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver a variety of ecological surveys and assessments
  • Produce clear, professional reports and provide sound advice to clients and colleagues
  • Act as Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) when required, supporting projects on site
  • Mentor and guide junior staff, helping them develop their skills and confidence
  • Contribute to project management, tenders and client relationships to support team success
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Several years’ experience working in ecological consultancy, with a focus on terrestrial ecology
  • At least one protected species licence (e.g. bats, great crested newts, dormice)
  • Solid knowledge of survey methods and reporting standards
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative mindset
  • A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel or stay away from home when required
