Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to manage and deliver technical designs in high-hazard environments. This role offers hybrid working flexibility, the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, and the potential for career growth. Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Senior EC&I Engineer in Engineering / EPCM / EPC environments.
  • Strong technical grasp of EC&I discipline with leadership and coordination capabilities.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (preferred).

Overview

Do you have the Radiological Surveillance Systems (RSS) experience required to support EC&I design in high-hazard environments such as nuclear or chemical sectors?

Are you confident in your ability to lead and coordinate EC&I design teams, ensuring technical accuracy, compliance, and delivery within budget and scope?

Responsibilities
  • Produce and manage EC&I designs, including Fire & Gas detection and protection systems.
  • Lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Collaborate with the Lead EC&I Engineer to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Maintain alignment with other disciplines including Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Process, and Automation.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Translate Scope of Work into actionable deliverables and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and quality of all EC&I outputs, including third-party deliverables.
  • Uphold compliance with relevant standards and project specifications.
Qualifications & experience
  • Previous experience as a Senior EC&I Engineer in Engineering / EPCM / EPC environments.
  • Strong technical grasp of EC&I discipline with leadership and coordination capabilities.
  • MEng / BEng / HNC / HND in EC&I Engineering.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (preferred).
  • Experience with Radiological Surveillance Systems (RSS) (preferred).
  • Proficiency in checking and approving EC&I deliverables including:
    • Single Line Diagrams
    • Cable Calculations
    • Loop Diagrams
    • Instrument Hook-up Diagrams
    • Instrument Datasheets
    • IS Calculations
    • Instrument Index
    • Block Cable Diagrams
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills across disciplines.
  • Demonstrated application of key industry standards.
  • Experience with Plant 3D and/or Revit.
Desirable / It’s great if you also have
  • A results-driven mindset focused on client satisfaction and design acceptance.
  • Ability to manage dependencies and drive project success in complex environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working on both greenfield and brownfield projects.
