Job description

Overview

We are looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer to work on a 6 month minimum contract (likely to be on-going) in Manchester/Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days from home). Rate is up to £48 Ltd per hour (outside IR35).

Requirements

• Experience: Ideally 15+ years in relevant EC&I engineering roles.
• Industrial Plant Design: Proven experience in designing chemical and pharmaceutical facilities, including:
  • Specification of instrumentation, electrical systems (up to low voltage), and control equipment.
  • Development of control system documentation, including URS and FDS.
  • Preparation of cable schematics, drawings, and schedules.
  • Application of hazardous area design techniques, e.g., intrinsically safe systems.
  • Supervision and mentoring of EC&I design staff.
  • Conducting site surveys of existing plants.
  • Testing and pre-commissioning of EC&I systems.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with other engineering disciplines (process, piping & layout, civil & structural).
• Communication: Strong written and verbal skills for client interactions and cross-disciplinary coordination.
• Travel: Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas for client visits and site surveys (no extended stays required).
• Project Management: Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from large greenfield/brownfield projects to smaller “cut and carve” projects.
• Other Requirements: Full driving licence.

Desirable

• Knowledge of Functional Safety (IEC 61511).
• Certification under a recognised safety passport scheme.
