Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking an experienced EC&I Design Engineer to lead the development of drawings and design packs for hazardous areas installations. You will perform cable calculations, load schedules and participate in FAT/SAT preparation, working with site and commissioning teams to align design with operations.

The role requires 10+ years in design, degree qualification or time-served apprenticeship, and proven ability to review others’ work and mentor colleagues.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 10 years’ experience in design for hazardous areas installations.
• Experience with EC&I design principles and guidelines.
• Knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition) electrical installations.
• Desirable CompEX EX01-EX04 and/or EX12 modules.
• Experience with gas analytical and metering systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design packs: oversee drawing and document packs and advise on specs for analytical and metering systems.
• Calculations: perform cable calculations, I.S Loop Calculations, load schedules and thermal capacity checks.
• Check and Approve: review others' designs and liaise with approvers to implement comments.
• Advise: train and mentor EC&I design engineers and represent the company in client meetings.
• Bridge the gap: coordinate with site and commissioning teams to improve standards.
• Process improvement: map existing processes and suggest improvements; assist during FAT with EC&I issues.
