James Fisher and Sons plc in Westhill invites applications for a Senior Draughtsperson with hybrid working and full-time permanent status. You will deliver 2D and 3D CAD drawings using SolidWorks from concept through to detailed components and systems, while mentoring the draughting team and upholding internal standards.

The role requires SolidWorks proficiency, familiarity with PDM vault systems, and subsea or offshore sector experience.

Qualifications

• SolidWorks proficiency with drafting experience in mechanical components.
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM Pro or similar vault systems is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce safe, cost-effective, manufacturable 3D design solutions for engineering activities.
• Create accurate machining, fabrication, and 2D schematic drawings.
• Generate clear assembly, interface, and general arrangement drawings.
• Provide draughting support to engineering and other departments as required.
• Collaborate with the draughting team to share knowledge and develop effective design solutions.
• Maintain and uphold all internal draughting standards and documentation.
• Act as drawing checker within PLM, ensuring compliance with standards and quality requirements.
• Support process and procedural improvements and help develop less experienced draughtspersons.

About the Role

Senior Draughtsperson Westhill with hybrid working Full-time, Permanent

Please note that this role requires security checks.

The Role:

As a Senior Draughtsperson, you will deliver clear, accurate design solutions—from initial concept through to detailed component, assembly, and system-level drawings—using 2D and 3D CAD, primarily SolidWorks. Your work shall vary with project scopes, new product developments and updates to existing client equipment.

Alongside your technical expertise, where required, you will provide leadership and guidance to ensure the draughting team delivers high-quality outputs that meet departmental and business goals.

What you'll be doing:
