Main duties of the job
  • Play a key role in supporting the dispensary team and ensuring the safe, efficient supply of medicines under the supervision of a registered pharmacy professional:
    • Accurately label and dispense medicines in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Complete and maintain accuracy checking training to support safe supply of medicines.
    • Enter prescription details accurately into the hospital system to update patient records.
    • Respond to routine queries and process pharmaceutical orders within your scope of practice.
  • Supervise staff within the dispensary in conjunction with senior managers.
  • Stock Management:
    • Monitor expiry dates, rotate stock, and maintain adequate levels to reduce waste.
    • Ensure medicines are stored safely and correctly at all times.
  • General Duties:
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with Health & Safety standards.
    • Assist with audits, prescription turnaround monitoring, and filing of documentation.
    • Support training of new staff once competent and act as a positive role model.
    • Participate in weekend, late, and bank holiday rotas as required.
