The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) invites applications for the Deputy Director, Railway Engineering & Investment. This senior leadership role provides the organisation’s technical authority on railway engineering, asset management, capital investment and infrastructure delivery across Great Britain’s rail network.

Based in ORR offices including London, this role operates within a hybrid model and will lead approximately 34 colleagues.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in regulatory or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong technical authority in engineering, asset management or capital delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee asset stewardship, cost management and capital delivery across Great Britain’s rail network.
• Provide expert oversight of engineering performance, resilience and long‑term stewardship.
• Lead relationships with Network Rail, HS1 and other duty holders to ensure safe, reliable rail services.
