Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Director, Lead Engineer & Architect (Full Stack / Blockchain) to own the end-to-end technical architecture of a London-based platform. You will lead a team of full-stack engineers, set technical direction, mentor staff, and stay hands-on with code to maintain high standards of quality.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in financial services technology with senior technical leadership of complex platforms.
• Hands‑on architect and engineer who still writes production code.
• Delivery experience on blockchain or distributed ledger projects, incl. smart contracts and security considerations.
• Broad full‑stack depth across multiple back‑end and front‑end frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of distributed and microservice architectures and API‑first design.
• Experience designing for high availability, scalability and resilience (cloud-native, containers).
• Strong command of modern CI/CD, automated testing strategies and DevOps practices.
• Experience in Agile environments and balancing delivery with architectural health.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management to influence senior technology and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end technical architecture of a high-profile platform.
• Lead and grow a full-stack engineering team as a hands-on player-manager.
• Design and build front-end and back-end components and ledger integration.
• Evolve architecture for usability, scalability, performance, security and resilience.
• Define APIs and ensure enterprise API standards.
• Collaborate with product owners and senior stakeholders on the technical roadmap.
• Drive engineering excellence: automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, observability.
• Engage in architecture governance and coordinate with security/infrastructure teams.
• Stay current with digital assets and distributed ledger tech for platform benefits.
