Senior DevOps Engineer | Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, Azure | Central Enablement Team for a Tier-1 Bank (Global Consultancy)

• 12-month contract (extensions likely / potential to go permanent)
• £550–£700 per day (depending on experience)
• London – 2 days per week on-site
• Immediate / ASAP start

The Role

Join a prestigious, global consultancy, with its foundations firmly rooted in the UK, as part of a central enablement team supporting one of the world’s leading Tier-1 banks. You’ll operate as both engineer and consultant: helping multiple development squads modernise their CI/CD delivery through best-in-class tooling and DevOps practices.

This isn’t a ticket-driven operations role, it’s hands‑on, architecture‑minded enablement. You’ll coach teams, design scalable pipelines, and lead migrations from legacy systems into streamlined, automated workflows that power financial platforms used by millions.

What They’re Looking For (Non‑Negotiables)

• Proven software engineering background: you’ve been a developer before moving into DevOps, and understand build quality, testing, and code pipelines from the inside out.
• Kubernetes platform enablement and troubleshooting at scale.
• GitLab CI/CD (plus Jenkins/TeamCity) pipeline design, templating, and optimisation.
• Docker image build and registry management.
• CI/CD automation experience across multiple teams/products.
• Azure and/or AWS familiarity (majority Azure).
• Consultancy-grade communication.

What You’ll Work With

• Kubernetes enablement, deployment support, and incident troubleshooting.
• GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and migration pathways from TeamCity/Jenkins.
• Azure (primarily) and AWS in a mixed‑cloud environment.
• Terraform (IaC), observability tooling, security scanning, and secrets management.

Nice to Haves

• Prior consultancy or customer‑facing engineering background.
• Deep Terraform fluency and experience embedding SAST/DAST gates into CI/CD workflows.
• Strong testing mindset and understanding of quality gates, unit coverage, and continuous testing practices.
