Job summary

Northrop Grumman UK is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will design, develop, and maintain critical infrastructure powering our services. You will lead and support engineers through delivery, participate in peer reviews, and ensure robust CI/CD pipelines across multiple projects.

You will work in a hybrid setup in the UK, contributing to the product roadmap while collaborating with teams to meet customer and programme requirements.

Qualifications

• Senior DevOps Engineer with hands-on CI/CD and containerisation experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and IaC tooling.
• Strong Linux system administration skills and database understanding.

The Opportunity

This is more than just a job; it’s a mission. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing and maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers our services. You’ll work across a variety of exciting projects and complex challenges, helping to deliver core capabilities that have meaningful, real-world impact. You’ll bring technical leadership and a proactive mindset, guiding engineers through delivery and engineering challenges to support customer and programme requirements.

What You’ll Do

Perform hands‑on development and actively contribute to the code base, including undertaking peer reviews. Design engineering features that support delivery of the product roadmap and clearly articulate design decisions. Break down large pieces of work into well-defined tasks aligned with Agile delivery. Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, taking ownership of build and deployment processes. Demonstrate development progress to internal and external customers through clear, confident presentations.

What We’re Looking For

Experience as a DevOps Engineer, with strong skills in CI/CD, containerisation, deployment technologies and cloud platforms (such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, IaC, Docker and AWS). Experience in Linux system administration or similar operating systems. Understanding of database technologies, such as SQL, Elasticsearch or MongoDB. Strong communication, collaboration and problem‑solving skills, ideally gained in an agile environment. If you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
