Job summary

Tangerine, a London-based strategic design consultancy, seeks a Senior Designer (ID) to lead design projects from research through to production. You will shape concepts, mentor junior designers and collaborate with researchers, engineers and strategists.

You will translate insights into compelling products and experiences for global brands, with hybrid working in a modern London studio and opportunities to travel for multi-sector programmes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or masters in Industrial Design or related discipline.
• 6+ years of professional industrial design experience.
• Outstanding portfolio demonstrating creativity, strategic thinking and design excellence.
• Proven ability to drive projects from concept through to delivery.
• Strong administrative, organisational and project management skills.
• Ability to think holistically about challenges and stakeholder needs.
• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent sketching, storytelling and visual communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Rhino; Blender and Adobe Suite beneficial.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and beautifully; design for manufacture understanding.

Responsibilities

• Be a key member of design projects from discovery through to implementation, responsible for ideation, 3D CAD and visualisation.
• Manage and mentor junior and mid-weight designers

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Designer (ID) to join our London studio.

This role is particularly suited to designers with experience in aviation, rail, automotive, or future mobility programmes, although we welcome applications from candidates with broader product design backgrounds who can demonstrate outstanding strategic and creative capability.

You will be an integral part of the studio and be exposed to all aspects of the design process, from research and strategy through to concept generation, development, visualisation and implementation. Working as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will be a key designer on projects, shape design direction and build trusted client relationships.

Combining strong strategic thinking with outstanding design execution, you will translate research and insight into compelling products, services and experiences. As a senior member of the design team, you will be expected to be the main day-to-day designer on projects and workstreams, mentor junior designers and contribute to the continued growth of our practice.

• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skill
• Excellent sketching, storytelling and visual communication skills
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Rhino
• Strong visualisation skills using Blender
• Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills
• Ability to create and communicate ideas clearly and beautifully
• Strong understanding of design for manufacture and production processes
• High level of attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to mentor and support other designers
• Passion for innovation, design excellence and user-centred design
• Interest in working across multiple sectors and project types

Skills & Experience (Desirable)

• Experience in transport design is highly desirable, including aviation, rail, automotive, mobility or passenger experience projects
• Experience working with global brands and international teams
• Knowledge of CMF development
• Experience facilitating innovation and co-creation workshops
• Prototyping and model-making experience
• Familiarity with AI-enabled design workflows
• Knowledge of Rhino and/or Alias
• Additional language skills
• Willingness to travel internationally when required

Location

This position is based in our London studio. Hybrid working is available, with team members expected to spend three days of their time in the studio collaborating with colleagues and clients.
