Job summary

VVB Engineering in Acton is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead a team of Design Engineers and coordinate design activities across disciplines. You will interpret, organise, and oversee design tasks while supporting tendering, procurement, and construction activities.

The role requires a recognised engineering degree and professional registration, with substantial experience in Power, Utilities or Infrastructure design and HV (33kV) projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Engineering Council Chartership or equivalent professional registration.

Responsibilities

• Supervise design and engineering activities across multiple disciplines.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and review engineering and design work.
• Manage design registers, meeting minutes, and drawing registers.
• Coordinate formal processes such as RFIs, TQs, EWN, and MARs.
• Ensure design risk assessments align with installation parameters.
• Maintain communications with client reps, suppliers, construction managers, and consultants.
• Obtain client approvals on project phases and ensure adherence to procedures.
• Collaborate with Commercial to track design changes and variances.
• Work with planning to schedule design, installation, and testing works.
• Support the Head of Electrical Engineering in annual performance reviews.
