Job description
Overview

The Senior Design Manager will be responsible for coordinating the design elements and interfaces of all aspects of a project, ensuring the quality of the design and monitoring the delivery of the project. The Senior Design Manager will report to the Project Manager on the project, and will be responsible for the daily Design Management, as well as the daily management of multiple Design Consultants. The Senior Design Manager promotes Health, Safety and Quality to the projects and through the tender process. They will liaise between the Client, Design Consultants and the project staff for design matters, promoting best value design solutions, and liaising with the Site Manager for the development of design packages and procurement strategies. The Design Manager will also be involved in tender support, giving advice on tender design strategy and implementing the Commercial Protocol Designers. The Senior Design Manager will present a professional and responsible image of the company to clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Support tenders by advising on tender design strategy and implementing the Commercial Protocol.
  • Represent the company professionally to clients and colleagues.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Engineer MICE or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of design processes and design management.
  • Relevant knowledge/experience in site management and construction techniques.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of different client procurement routes.
  • Preference for marine or M&E works experience.
  • Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads.
