Job summary

PSR Solutions in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities on healthcare construction projects. You will manage design information flow, supervise consultants, and ensure compliance with project briefs and standards.

You will drive design programmes and meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing input across pre-construction and construction phases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years' experience as Design Manager for a Tier 1 UK contractor.
• Degree in a construction-related discipline.
• Chartered status such as MCIOB or MICE or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver design information per programme and project deliverables.
• Oversee design consultants, review submissions for standards and project brief.
• Provide design management input throughout pre-construction and construction.

Job description

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating the delivery of design information in line with the agreed design programme and project deliverables.
• Overseeing appointed design consultants to ensure they fulfil their contractual responsibilities, reviewing and challenging design submissions to confirm compliance with relevant standards, specifications and the project brief.
• Providing design management and technical input throughout both the pre-construction and construction phases of projects.
• Developing and maintaining design programmes, design scopes, design responsibility matrices, consultant appointments and associated schedules.
• Organising, attending and chairing relevant design meetings, workshops and coordination sessions with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

• A minimum of 8 years' experience working as a Design Manager for a Tier 1 UK contractor.
• A degree in a construction-related discipline.
• Professional chartership, such as MCIOB, MICE or an equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience delivering healthcare projects.
• Experience managing the design and delivery of medium to large-scale construction projects.
• Strong experience delivering civils, substructure and superstructure structural design packages, together with experience managing façade design packages, including unitised and off-site systems
