Job description
The Role

As Senior Design Engineer, you'll:

  • Produce detailed designs, quotations, and submissions for medium to large wastewater and surface water pumping schemes.
  • Undertake site surveys, collect technical data, and assess project feasibility.
  • Ensure all design work meets UK water industry standards and legislation (including Sewers for Adoption and Codes of Adoption).
  • Oversee and mentor members of the design, estimating, and CAD teams.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and commercially sound project delivery.
  • Deputise for the Technical Director when required — managing departmental operations and workload allocation.
About You

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Proven design experience in wastewater or water pumping systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK water industry standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g. AutoCAD, simPRO, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • A proactive, reliable approach — able to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • A full UK driving licence.
