Role Overview

Based in Coventry, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to lead a team in delivering compliant and efficient utility designs. You’ll be responsible for managing the full design lifecycle, ensuring technical standards are met, and issuing construction packs post-acceptance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a design team to produce fit-for-purpose designs.
  • Liaise with clients, incumbents, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Monitor team performance against productivity standards and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and address design-related cost and programme impacts.
  • Support the Design Manager in team development and motivation.
  • Ensure adoption standards and technical compliance are met.
  • Assess training and development needs within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Engineering (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of current legislation, technical standards, codes of practice, and engineering recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable
  • Master’s degree, CEng or IEng.
  • Multi-utility design experience.
  • BMT experience.
Conditions of Employment
  • Full UK driving licence required.
