Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited in the West of England is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Design Delivery to lead complex engineering design programmes within the Nuclear New Build portfolio. You will shape delivery strategies and steer cross-functional teams to successful outcomes.

The role requires strong governance, commercial oversight, and the ability to manage challenging interfaces with clients and stakeholders, while maintaining safety and quality as a priority.

Qualifications

• Experience with structured design lifecycles and large-scale, complex programmes.
• Experience in commercial performance, forecasting, risk, change control, and recovery planning.
• Knowledge of design governance, assurance, configuration control, and interfaces.
• Build credibility with senior clients and technical stakeholders to influence outcomes.
• Clear communication across technical and commercial environments.
• Coaching project managers and technical leaders.
• Navigate ambiguity with proactive, solutions-focused leadership.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role within our Nuclear New Build business, leading complex engineering design programmes as part of the Project Delivery Capability team.
• Shape delivery strategies and oversee multiple projects, including large and technically complex design packages.
• Establish governance frameworks, controls, assurance routes, and interface management arrangements.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in line with AtkinsRéalis values, processes, and collaborative ways of working.
• Take accountability for project performance across schedule, cost, margin, quality, risk, and change management.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, managers, and technical leaders to navigate challenges.
• Ensure designs progress through review, approval, and configuration control processes.
• Lead or contribute to major bids and proposals, shaping delivery solutions and resource strategies.
