Job Summary

Powys Teaching Health Board's Community Dental Service is seeking to appoint a Senior Dental Officer to a salaried General Dental Practitioner (GDP) position from April 2026. Base location is to be confirmed but will be situated in Llandrindod Wells/Mid Wales area.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and innovative team delivering a broad spectrum of dental services. The successful candidate will work alongside specialist colleagues and benefit from opportunities to develop additional skills within a supportive environment.

This is a full‑time role (37.5 hours per week); however, part time would be considered. The ability to travel across sites is essential. Applicants must be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and hold the appropriate qualifications required for this post.

Main Duties

The post‑holder will be experienced at providing general dental services and a full range of level‑1 complexity of procedures, with the ability to manage patients with urgent dental problems. Eligibility for a performer number is essential, including the ability to manage caseloads. The post‑holder will provide support to the associate dental director and assistant clinical director in delivering the managed practice element of Powys Community Dental Service.

Qualifications
  • Appropriate graduate qualification or equivalent in Dentistry
  • Relevant postgraduate Dental Qualification
  • Full registration with the GDC

  • Competent clinician with all level‑1 procedures; able to work in a team as well as in isolation. Flexible to work in different environments including a mobile dental unit and domiciliary setting.
