Job summary

Boots UK in Nottingham is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of data science products across commercial marketing, supply chain and healthcare modelling. You’ll translate business needs into analytic solutions and deliver production-ready models.

You will own end-to-end ML projects, collaborate with engineering and MLOps, and mentor junior colleagues while ensuring robust data governance and documentation.

Qualifications

• Numerate degree in maths, statistics, data science, CS, engineering, physics or economics.
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Practical experience training machine learning models.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
• Experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Shape business opportunities into clear data science requirements.
• Develop and deploy ML models from scratch or fine-tuned.
• Train and evaluate different model types (classification, forecasting, regression).
• Define metrics, baselines, and experiments.
• Build scalable solutions using Python, SQL, Databricks and PySpark.
• Create automated Databricks workflows and deploy through Asset Bundles.
• Structure codebases using Git, testing and peer review.
• Work with engineering and MLOps teams to move models to production.
• Monitor and improve live data products.
• Explain data science to non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain documentation, security and data-protection standards.
• Provide guidance to junior colleagues.
