Job summary

National Gas in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop advanced analytics, forecasting and machine learning solutions for our gas transmission network. You will own projects from concept to deployment, delivering measurable operational value in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Scientist or similar quantitative role.
• Experience developing time-series forecasting or optimisation models in a business environment.
• Strong Python programming skills with libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn.
• Experience deploying ML solutions using modern MLOps practices.
• SQL data extraction and manipulation experience.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop forecasting, optimisation and machine learning models to solve operational and asset management challenges.
• Take ownership of data science projects from discovery through to production deployment.
• Analyse and prepare large datasets from operational, asset, weather and market sources.
• Build and maintain MLOps pipelines to support reliable and scalable model deployment.
• Create dashboards, visualisations and applications that communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Work closely with engineers, operators and business teams to embed solutions into day-to-day operations.
• Measure and demonstrate the value delivered by analytical solutions.
