Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design and deliver analytical and AI-driven solutions for the Chemicals and energy sector. You will work with customers to understand goals, prototype solutions and iteratively improve models in collaboration with product teams.

You will apply modern AI methods, manage data quality, and communicate complex insights to diverse stakeholders while contributing to scalable data platforms.

Qualifications

  • We are seeking 3-5 years of experience in Data Science, Applied AI, Analytics or related fields.
  • Proven track record delivering analytical or AI solutions from concept to deployment.
  • Experience applying modern AI approaches including LLMs, retrieval systems and agentic workflows.
  • Strong Python skills with data science libraries.
  • Good problem-solving in ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments.
  • Experience designing experiments and measuring business impact.

Salary: £56,000 - 96,000 per year

Requirements
  • We are looking for 3-5 years of experience in Data Science, Applied AI, Analytics or a related field.
  • We want a proven track record of developing and delivering analytical, machine learning or AI solutions from concept through deployment.
  • We value experience evaluating and applying modern AI approaches, including large language models, retrieval-based systems and agentic workflows.
  • Strong Python skills and experience with common data science and analytics libraries are required.
  • We need strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous and rapidly evolving environments.
  • Experience designing experiments and measuring business impact of data science solutions is important.
  • Good understanding of data modelling, data quality and working with structured and unstructured data is required.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, APIs and containerised applications is needed.
  • Professional use of version control and collaborative software-development practices is expected.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders or customers to identify and solve high-value business problems is required.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business challenges into practical analytical solutions are needed.
  • Experience in Chemicals, Energy, commodity markets or related industrial sectors is desirable but not required.

  • We rapidly prototype, systematically test and iterate solutions with customers, incorporating user feedback to improve value, usability and adoption.
  • We apply data science, machine learning and AI techniques, including modern generative AI and agentic approaches where appropriate, to solve customer problems.
  • We combine ICIS data, domain expertise and customer context to develop differentiated analytical solutions.
  • We communicate insights, recommendations and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • We contribute to best practices in experimentation, model development, evaluation, documentation and maintainability.
  • We surface customer needs and gaps in data, semantics and platform capabilities to help shape future ICIS product, data and AI investments.
  • We collaborate with product managers, subject matter experts, engineers and commercial stakeholders in a cross-functional Customer Deployed Team.
  • We share learnings across teams to accelerate innovation and improve future customer engagements.
