Job summary

Roche UK in Welwyn Garden City is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to architect AI frameworks, transform large enterprise data into actionable insights, and help increase patient access to medicines. You will lead end-to-end ML projects, prototype GenAI, RAG, and predictive models, and build scalable pipelines with data engineers and IT teams aligned to CI/CD and MLOps standards.

The role requires an advanced degree and deep Python/SQL experience, plus the ability to communicate complex analytics

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven professional experience building, deploying, and scaling ML models in Python, SQL, and modern AI frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Architect enterprise AI: end-to-end development of advanced ML models from exploration to production deployment.

The Opportunity

• Architect Enterprise AI: Lead the end-to-end development of advanced machine learning models, from exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to production deployment.
• Drive Next-Gen Innovation: Prototype state-of-the-art AI solutions, including Generative AI, RAG systems, and predictive models to solve complex commercial and healthcare challenges.
• Build Scalable Pipelines: Partner with data engineers and global IT teams to ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and integrated with CI/CD and MLOps standards.

To be successful in this role, you bring:

• Quantitative Foundation: Master's or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Deep Data Science Expertise: Proven professional experience building, deploying, and scaling machine learning models in Python, SQL, and modern AI frameworks.
• Advanced Causal Inference & Modeling: Proven expertise in causal inference techniques (e.g., A/B testing, propensity score matching, synthetic controls) to isolate and measure true incremental business impact.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead complex data initiatives and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
• Stakeholder Impact: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value propositions.
