Job summary

M&G in Edinburgh is seeking an Experienced Data Solutions professional to design, build and optimise data pipelines for actuarial modelling and assumption setting. You will lead data workflows, ensure governance and quality, and guide junior teammates.

You'll apply ML and analytics in financial services, collaborate with stakeholders, and help transform data into reliable insights while maintaining documentation and controls.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in data science with ML in financial services.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines for actuarial modelling.
• Proficient in Azure Databricks, Spark, Spark SQL and Python.
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality management.
• Ability to translate business problems into data solutions.
• Experience in audit-driven environments.
• Excellent communication to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to validate and transform data to meet actuarial modelling needs.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency through robust validation, monitoring, and governance practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient and effective technical solutions.
• Optimise data systems and processes to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on data science approaches, tools, and best practices.
• Support integration of multiple data sources to create cohesive, accessible, and trusted datasets.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data platforms, frameworks, and engineering standards.
