Job summary

Genius Sports in London is seeking a Senior Data Science Manager to oversee the implementation of predictive models across multiple sports. You will lead a team of data scientists and engineers, delivering high-impact solutions with an autonomous, performance-focused approach.

The role emphasizes advanced algorithms (Monte Carlo, neural networks, logistic regression, random forests), collaboration in a multi-disciplinary Agile squad, and a strong emphasis on delivering smart, reliable outcomes

The Role

You willleada team of data scientists developing the next generation of Genius Sports’ market leading sports models.These modelsact as the sporting brain behind many of Genius’s customer facing products, calculating the probabilities of outcomes across awiderange of sports.

How will you work?

Leada specially formed, highly skilled team delivering an innovative & intelligent product! Forming part of a multi-disciplinary Agile team of Software Engineers, Data Scientists, QAEngineersand a Product Manager, you will look to work closely to the fundamental principles of continuous delivery and empowered, high-performing teams.

Weoperatein a squad model to allow focus on the business top priorities, allowing exposure across multiple products while stillmaintainingstrong ownership of your team’s domain.

As aSenior Data Science Manager,youwill oversee the implementation ofpredictive models acrossmany sports.You willlead your team in the development ofalgorithms tocalculate theprobabilities of sporting outcomes.

What skills do you have?
  • A BSc, MSc or PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Statistics, Machine Learning or other STEM subject
  • Strong leadership skills with a strongproventrack recordof successful delivery of high impactsolutions to complex data science problems
  • Mentoring andStaffDevelopment
  • Expertknowledgeof probability and statistics
  • Expertisein a broad range ofdata science /machine learning algorithms (Monte Carlo simulation, neuralnetworks, logistic regression, random forest, etc.)withaproventrack recordof delivering solutions to complex problems.
  • Proficiencywith Python or other scripting/programming languages (R,Matlab, etc)
  • Abilitytobring clarity to complex domains, rapidly developing a deep understanding and challenging unclear requirements. You lead conversations that drive alignment and uncover edge cases others might miss.
  • Familiarity with sports rules and strategies(football, American football, basketball, tennis, ice hockey, baseball, etc.)

It isadvantageousfor you to have knowledge of the following:

  • Sports betting
  • Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) covering the fulllife cyclefrom model creation, deployment (Gitlab, AWS, Docker) and retraining
  • Data engineering
  • Rust, C++, other programming languages
  • Real-time systems and/or high-performance computing
  • Software System Design
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
