Job summary

Simple Machines in London seeks a Senior Data Engineer to shape end-to-end data platforms and real-time pipelines for clients worldwide.

You will lead architecture, design data mesh and contracts, and deliver production-grade platforms using Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, and GCP, collaborating with high-caliber teams.

You'll mentor engineers, ensure security and governance by design, and translate business needs into pragmatic engineering decisions for impactful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
• Deep experience with Spark and modern data platforms (Databricks / Snowflake).
• Proven ability to design and deliver cloud-based data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of modern, cloud-native data platforms.
• Design scalable data ecosystems using data mesh, data products, and data contracts.
• Build and deliver cloud-native data platforms using Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, and GCP.
• Develop batch and real-time pipelines; work with Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, Pub/Sub.
• Consult with clients to understand problems and shape solutions.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards across teams.
