Job Overview

The Senior Data Management Analyst plays a central role in supporting UCLH’s strategic and operational use of data across the organisation. Working within an agile team, you will focus on activity, income and workforce data models, and integrate new datasets into our data warehouse systems. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of the day‑to‑day operations of a teaching hospital and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical, operational, finance, transformation, ICT and other teams.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop activity, income and workforce data models.
  • Integrate new datasets into data warehouse systems.
  • Analyse NHS datasets (income, workforce, outpatient, inpatient, imaging, diagnostics, pharmacy, pathology, RTT, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, maternity, commissioning, etc.) to support decision making.
  • Design and deliver business intelligence reports using SQL, EPIC Reporting Stack, R, Power BI and MS Excel.
  • Gather stakeholder requirements, manage expectations and design specifications.
  • Produce clear, comprehensive documentation for BI and data transformation processes.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Degree level education; relevant Masters level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Essential skills: Significant experience in an information analysis/processing role; advanced SQL and relational database experience; high‑standard use of SQL Server and MS Excel.
  • Essential knowledge: Understanding of NHS data dictionary, Payment by Results and other commissioning options; knowledge of information analysis across the NHS.
  • Desirable: Experience in an NHS or healthcare information environment; use of Microsoft BI stack (Power BI, MS Access); mastery of Epic BI stack (Radar, Slicer Diver, Reporting Workbench); R and/or Python for predictive analytics; macro‑level MS Excel.
  • Skills & abilities: Ability to interrogate, interpret and transform complex data; advanced Power BI or MS Excel skills; strong oral and written communication; stakeholder and programme management; planning and organisation.
