Job summary

Sovos is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own the Snowflake/dbt data pipeline supporting FP&A, accounting, and leadership. You will build scalable ingestion, transformation, and governance across the topline data chain, focusing on accuracy and reliability.

The role emphasizes strong collaboration with finance stakeholders, AI data interactions, and on-call incident responsibility. Leading with a -highly capable SQL/dbt stack- and cloud experience (Azure/AWS), you will extend models to cover

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in data engineering and production pipelines.
• Advanced SQL skills including CTEs, window functions, complex queries.
• Production dbt experience with modular models, tests and documentation.
• Snowflake proficiency including roles, warehouses, governance and row-level security.
• Experience supporting financial close cycles and on-call incident ownership.
• Familiarity with revenue data chain components: Billing, ARR, Rev Rec, Close Pack.
• Experience integrating CRM/ERP systems (NetSuite/Salesforce) into a warehouse layer.
• Nice to have: Python scripting for pipelines and cloud CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Snowflake schema and dbt models for topline data chain (Billing, ARR, Deferred Revenue, Rev Rec, Close Pack).
• Deliver ingestion and transformation models with tests and documentation across use cases.
• Own pipeline reliability through financial close; act as on-call escalation point.
• Establish data quality standards and Snowflake governance patterns for the team.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineer on business-layer model design for finance needs.
• Extend dbt model layer to cover OPEX, COGS, commissions, and ASC 340-40.
• Write dbt YAML documentation as production deliverables for data accuracy.
• Own row-level security and model freshness SLAs for real-time AI queries.
