Job summary

IntaPeople is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a South Wales client, focusing on transforming a reporting-led organisation into an insight-driven business. You will design robust, scalable data pipelines and an enterprise data warehouse to enable self-service analytics at scale.

The role involves a senior presence within a small Data/BI team, collaborating with stakeholders, and delivering high-quality data solutions. The position is hybrid with onsite Newport engagement.

Qualifications

• Strong experience as Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer in a business environment.
• Proficient in SQL and transformation logic within a data warehouse.
• Experience designing and maintaining ETL pipelines and data integration processes.
• Proficient in Kimball dimensional modelling techniques (star schema).
• Experience with Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric).
• Ability to work with data from multiple operational systems and ensure data quality and governance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines from multiple sources.
• Develop and optimise the enterprise data warehouse for a single trusted data source.
• Automate data flows, integrations, and transformations to reduce manual tasks.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, and validation.
• Collaborate with BI/analytics teams to support reporting and insights.
• Support self-service analytics by ensuring well-governed data access.
