Job summary

Accenture UK & Ireland is seeking a Data Engineer in Newcastle upon Tyne to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting analytics, AI, and operational insights. The role involves collaborating with client and internal teams to deliver robust data solutions and cloud-based architectures.

The position requires hands-on experience with Java and Python, streaming technologies like Kafka/Flink, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience working on data engineering or large‑scale data solutions.
Strong programming proficiency in Java or Python.
Hands‑on experience with at least one of: Kafka, Flink, Spark (Flink/Kafka preferred for streaming).
Solid understanding of stream processing concepts (e.g., event time, state, backpressure).
Experience building ETL/ELT or streaming data pipelines.

Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development: build, optimize, and maintain scalable pipelines using Java (primary) and Python.
Data Architecture & Standards: contribute to data modelling, architecture, and best practices.
DevOps & Deployment: deploy data apps with CI/CD tooling and IaC.
Collaboration: work with analytics, ML/AI, and product teams to deliver clean datasets.
Core Data Engineering: ensure data quality, lineage, security controls, and performance.
DevOps & Engineering Practices: use Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes in cloud environments.
