Job summary

Octopus Electric Vehicles is seeking a senior Data Engineer to own and evolve our UK data platform. You’ll lead data pipelines, shape architecture, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable, production-ready analytics and ML infrastructure.

The role is at Staff/Tech Lead level, with mentoring responsibilities and a focus on reliability, latency, and data quality. You’ll work with Python, AWS, Kubernetes, Spark, dbt, Terraform and Databricks to decarbonise transport.

Qualifications

• This role requires a passion for decarbonisation and ability to own problems end-to-end.
• Experience mentoring/high-performance data teams and shaping engineering outputs.
• Strong coding practices and lean processes for data platforms.
• Experience with distributed data processing, monitoring, testing, and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Own and optimise our data platform architecture for reliability, scalability and maintainability.
• Shape the direction of the data team and coach members on best practices.
• Deliver data engineering projects with business stakeholders and integrate with third-party systems.
