Job summary

Forwardrole is seeking a Lead Data Engineer (National Security) to shape technical direction and own architecture for data platforms in a hybrid/secure-site environment with active eDV clearance. Salary ranges £80,000–£120,000.

You will drive end-to-end data pipelines using Python and AWS, engaging with senior customer stakeholders and delivering secure, scalable solutions with strong ownership and leadership.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Python and AWS cloud services.
• Experience designing modern data platforms and scalable data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data modelling, and distributed processing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Proven ability to take ownership of technical design and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Shape solutions and guide technical direction for national security programmes.
• Work directly with senior customer stakeholders, including C-level contacts.
• Own technical design and architecture decisions across data platforms and pipelines.
