Job summary

Cognizant in London is seeking Data Engineer professionals to join its Intelligent Process Automation practice. You will gather requirements, design and cost data solutions, and collaborate with delivery teams to bring them into live services.

The role involves writing SQL and Python/R scripts, developing data expertise, and liaising with business users and technologists to ensure clear, well-documented analyses. You’ll support governance and go-live activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Experience in IT architecture and software development lifecycles.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with Python and/or R, data visualization with Tableau.
• Experience with large datasets.
• Creation of B/FRDs and clear documentation with tech teams.
• Data warehousing, governance, data quality and ETL knowledge.
• Data modelling from contextual to physical levels.
• Strong Excel, SQL, Python, and JIRA skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder reporting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Gather business requirements and produce functional specifications across functions.
• Architect, design, cost and plan data solutions for live services.
• Write SQL or Python/R scripts to analyse data.
• Develop Subject Matter Expertise on key data elements.
• Coordinate between business users and technologists with the Tech team.
• Ensure proper development lifecycle artefacts for audits.
• Consult with users/clients to solve complex system issues and improve processes.
• Support systems change from requirements to implementation.
• Provide user/operational support and determine functional specs.
• Identify risks and impacts of technology on business context.
• Operate with limited supervision and meet tight deadlines.
• Work with Data Governance and Quality teams on data issues.
• Collaborate with technology leads to convert data gaps into work items.
• Provide updates to senior management in technology channels.
• Train teams before go-live and provide go-live support.
