Job summary

AJ Walter Aviation is seeking a data engineer to build and own the data foundation powering our AI products, within our cloud data platform. You will bridge a gap in dedicated data engineering support for the AI Innovation team, enabling faster and more reliable delivery of AI features.

You’ll design, develop and maintain production-grade pipelines, optimize SQL, model data, and collaborate with the AI Engineer to meet data needs while ensuring data quality, governance and robust monitoring

Qualifications

• Production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines within modern cloud platforms.
• Strong SQL and data modelling with cloud data warehouses.
• Ability to integrate data from multiple sources to create scalable data solutions.
• Analytical, methodical and detail-oriented problem-solving.
• Strong communication with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Explain data decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Writing and optimising SQL, and maintaining data models and schemas.
• Working with the AI Engineer to understand and meet data needs for AI features.
• Monitoring data pipeline health and troubleshooting issues.
• Liaising with the wider Data & Analytics function on architecture and standards.
• Documenting data flows, quality checks and retention practices.
