Wave Group is hiring a Senior/Principal Data Engineer to lead the data engineering layer for a pioneering UK Police Tech platform. You will own ingestion, reconciliation and normalization of data from fragmented legacy systems across multiple police forces, while ensuring governance and security are baked in from day one.

The role sits in a fast-moving startup backed by top investors, with on-site deployments in London and a hybrid work model (office 2–3 days/week).

Qualifications

• Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL/ELT) in regulated or sensitive environments.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for data processing, transformation, and analytics.
• Experience with data governance, lineage, quality tooling and governance practices.
• Comfort working across multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and legacy data sources.

Responsabilités

• Design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting data from fragmented legacy systems across police forces.
• Perform schema reconciliation and event-record joins to underpin core product features.
• Create anonymisation and synthesis pipelines for sensitive data in a regulated environment.
• Model and manage event sequences and temporal data across multiple operational datasets.
• Collaborate closely with senior technical leadership to deliver a governed data platform.
