Roku in Cambridge invites a Senior Data Engineer to build scalable, fault-tolerant data platforms for batch and streaming workloads. You will support a petabyte-scale data warehouse, design robust data solutions, and drive high-quality pipelines across complex datasets.

The role is hybrid, based in our Cambridge office, with flexible Fridays for remote work and a comprehensive benefits package. Strong SQL, Python, and OO programming are essential, along with experience in cloud and AI tooling.

Formación

• Strong SQL skills.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented language.
• Experience with big data technologies (HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Hive, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Presto).
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Looker is advantageous.
• BS in Computer Science; MS preferred.
• Curiosity and adaptability with AI tools and automation.
• Experience with agentic engineering tools (Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks).
• Ability to drive an AI agent, verify its output, and ramp up on unfamiliar codebases with agent support.

Responsabilidades

• Build scalable, fault-tolerant distributed data processing systems for batch and streaming workloads handling tens of terabytes daily.
• Support a petabyte-scale data warehouse.
• Design and develop data solutions that simplify complex datasets into self-service models.
• Develop pipelines ensuring high data quality and resilience to imperfect data.
• Define and maintain data mappings, business logic, transformations, and data quality standards.
• Debug low-level systems, measure performance, and optimise large production clusters.
• Participate in architecture discussions and own initiatives from concept to delivery.
• Maintain and evolve platforms with modern technologies and architectures.
